Richard Camilleri

Richard Camilleri is a founding partner of the firm and has been described as a ‘corporate all rounder’. As counsel to various domestic and foreign clients, he has significant experience in a large variety of transactions including privatisations, share acquisitions, public offerings of debt and equity securities, real-estate and construction projects.

Richard also advises clients on competition law, intellectual property law and employment law. He also has significant experience in litigation and has represented clients in cases concerning a variety of matters including competition law, unfair competition law, intellectual property law and employment law.

Richard is also a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law of the University of Malta and has been lecturing since 1988.

Lead counsel for the plaintiffs in a landmark case which led to a Constitutional Court judgement that declared the legal provisions concerning the imposition of fines for breaches of competition law to be in breach of the right to a fair trial as protected by the Maltese Constitution;

Lead counsel for a company which acquired the gas (LPG) division of a state entity upon the liberalisation of this sector. Work started from the very early stages (i.e. the acquisition) and is still ongoing

Lead counsel for a company in the acquisition of the majority shareholding in a Maltese company which holds the concession for tug services in the Maltese ports

Lead counsel to a company which is the developer of one of Malta’s largest mixed use real-estate development. Work is still ongoing and started from the very early stages i.e. the bid, formation of the company, financing and property acquisition.

Lead counsel to a consortium which acquired a controlling stake in the Maltese company that operates the Malta International Airport

Lead counsel as adviser to issuer in a number of debt and equity issues quoted on the Malta Stock Exchange
