Maria Gatt

Maria Gatt is an Associate at Mamo TCV Advocates, forming part of the firm’s Corporate, Shipping & Aviation departments.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Communications (Honours) in 2020, before going on to complete a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2024. Her dissertation explored the notion of legitimate interest under the EU Anti-Money Laundering Directives, analysing its interpretation in light of the Court of Justice of the European Union judgments.

Maria then obtained a Master of Advocacy from the University of Malta and joined the firm in 2025.

EU ‘28th Regime’ Explained: A New Framework for Company Incorporation in Europe

On the 18 March 2026, the European Commission (‘the Commission’) announced a new and harmonised corporate legal regime, ‘EU Inc.’ touted as the ‘28th regime’.
