Mamo TCV Advocates is pleased to announce that Nicholas Valenzia, Partner and Head of the firm’s Shipping and Yachting practice, has been elected Vice President of the Malta Maritime Law Association (MMLA) at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held on the 24th March 2026. He has been a member of the MMLA since 2006 and on the Executive Committee since 2012.

The election marks the continued recognition of the firm’s longstanding dedication to the maritime legal sector and its active contribution to the development of shipping law in Malta and beyond.

About the Malta Maritime Law Association

The Malta Maritime Law Association is a non-profit, voluntary organisation established in 1994 with the aim of promoting the study and advancement of maritime law and its administration. The MMLA plays a key role in ensuring that Malta’s maritime legislative and regulatory infrastructure is constantly updated, revised and improved in a proactive and well-researched manner, thereby enhancing qualitative standards and consolidating Malta’s pre-eminent position as an international maritime services centre.

Though primarily a legal association, MMLA membership is open to all those with a genuine interest in maritime affairs. Sub-committees provide a forum for discussion of emerging issues and for the drafting of national legislation and international legal instruments. The MMLA also holds a formal advisory role with the Merchant Shipping Directorate, having signed an agreement in 2002 to act as consultant and adviser to the authority and foster communication between the regulator and the maritime industry. Internationally, the MMLA is affiliated with the Comité Maritime International (CMI), the oldest international organisation in the maritime field, through which Malta is represented at high-profile international meetings and contributes to the negotiation and drafting of significant international legal instruments.
