In August 2026, Mr Ian Deguara, the former Maltese Information and Data Protection Commissioner, joined Mamo TCV Advocates as Senior Regulatory Advisor. Mr Deguara’s term at the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) came to an end in March 2026.

Mamo TCV Advocates’ Managing Partner, Dr Joe Borg Bartolo, welcomed Mr Deguara to the firm, describing his appointment as an important milestone for both the firm and Mr Deguara as he begins this new chapter of his distinguished career in the field of privacy and data protection.

Dr Claude Micallef Grimaud and Dr Antoine Camilleri, both partners heading the firm’s Privacy and Data Protection department, noted that, with Mr Deguara joining the department in this senior role, Mamo TCV Advocates now has a team of eight full-time lawyers and other professionals focusing on data protection matters, making it one of the most robust teams in this field in Malta. The team regularly advises and assists various local and foreign clients and acts as external data protection officer (DPO) for many such entities.

Mr Deguara said that he is excited to join such a vibrant and prominent firm and looks forward to continuing to work in a field that he both loves and in which he has developed considerable expertise, while assisting the firm across its diverse portfolio.
