MFSA Consolidates Maltese CASP Supervision

On the 4th of April 2025, the Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA”) published a circular addressed to all crypto-asset service providers (“CASPs”) licensed under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Act, Chapter 647 of the Laws of Malta, which integrates the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (“MiCAR”). The circular informs CASP licence-holders (“LH”) of the publication of the Crypto-Asset Service Provider Return (“CASP Return”). The CASP Return forms part of the MFSA’s efforts to build a consistent and transparent regulatory framework for CASPs in Malta. Urgent Family Leave Increased Under New Rules

Prior to the introduction of recent amendments, and in line with the Urgent Family Leave Regulations (Subsidiary Legislation 452.88), employees were entitled to a minimum of fifteen hours of paid urgent family leave, to be availed of in cases involving accidents, sudden illness, births and deaths of immediate family members. These hours were deducted from employees’ annual leave entitlement. With the introduction of the Urgent Family Leave (Amendment) Regulations of 2025 (Legal Notice 28 of 2025), urgent family leave has been extended from fifteen hours to thirty-two hours with pay.
