Second Reading in Parliament for Blockchain Bills: The Innovative Technology Arrangements and Services Act

One of three recent and significant legislative developments in the field of blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology ('DLT') was presented by the Maltese Government for its second reading in Parliament . The Bill is aimed at promulgating a framework for "Innovative Technology Arrangements and Services" ('ITAS'). Long-Awaited GDPR Guidelines Finalised by the WP29

The Article 29 Working Party ('WP29') has recently adopted and subsequently finalised its long-awaited guidelines on Consent as well as those on Transparency under Regulation 2016/679 (the 'GDPR'). These long-awaited guidelines form part of the many GDPR related guidelines, opinions and recommendations issued by the WP29 aimed to help practitioners, controllers and processors alike to better understand the workings and intricacies of the imminent GDPR. SEC and CFTC hearing on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology

Earlier this month the United States Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs met in open session to conduct a hearing entitled 'Virtual Currencies: The Oversight Role of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission'.
