Petra Attard

Petra Attard is a Senior Associate at Mamo TCV Advocates.  She graduated Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2011 after submitting a doctoral thesis entitled ‘Policyholder Protection in the Event of Cessation of Insurance Business and Insurance Intermediaries Activities’.  Petra furthered her studies at the University of London, where she obtained a Master of Laws degree with a specialization in Insurance Law.

Petra was called to the Maltese Bar, Superior Courts of Malta in 2012. She joined the firm in 2010 as a legal trainee. Petra’s main areas of practice include corporate law, insurance regulatory law, compliance, company service providers, and corporate governance.

  • Advises on the Maltese regulatory requirements with a particular focus on insurance undertakings and insurance distributors
  • Acts as company secretary to a number of companies registered in Malta and regulatory assists on matters of corporate and commercial law
  • Retained to advise a number of leading insurance and reinsurance entities operating in Malta as well as on a cross-border basis, on insurance regulatory matters

Amendments to the Company Services Providers Regime

Act X of 2025 which came into force on 16 May 2025 introduced amendments to the Company Service Providers Act (Chap. 525 of the law of Malta). The amendments are intended to further refine the provision of directorship and company secretary services and therefore impact mainly the Class B Company Service Provider (CSP) Category. The amendments introduced two new categories of Class B CSPs: restricted CSPs; and limited CSPs.
