Petra Attard

Petra Attard is a Senior Associate at Mamo TCV Advocates.  She graduated Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2011 after submitting a doctoral thesis entitled ‘Policyholder Protection in the Event of Cessation of Insurance Business and Insurance Intermediaries Activities’.  Petra furthered her studies at the University of London, where she obtained a Master of Laws degree with a specialization in Insurance Law.

Petra was called to the Maltese Bar, Superior Courts of Malta in 2012. She joined the firm in 2010 as a legal trainee. Petra’s main areas of practice include corporate law, insurance regulatory law, compliance, company service providers, and corporate governance.

  • Acts as company secretary to a number of companies registered in Malta and regulatory assists on matters of corporate and commercial law
  • Retained to advise a number of leading insurance and reinsurance entities operating in Malta as well as on a cross-border basis, on insurance regulatory matters

Court Reaffirms Limits on Appeals in Liquidation Proceedings

In two recent partial judgments delivered on 22nd July 2025 in the liquidation proceedings in the names Genesis Global Limited vs X (127/2022 ISB), the Civil Court (Commercial Section) reaffirmed a key principle under Maltese company law: there is no right of appeal from decrees issued in the context of liquidations unless expressly provided for by law.
