Stephen Muscat is a partner in the litigation department within the firm, assisting a number of clients, both corporate and individuals within the commercial and civil law sphere involved in court-related, arbitration and other tribunals work. Apart from dispute-resolution work Stephen also practices extensively within the general commercial and civil law sphere. In his practice, Stephen regularly deals and dealt with a myriad of issues for a diverse portfolio of clients, some of which are leaders in their field and high-net individuals, operating within the wholesale and retail, construction, services, hotel, oil and other industries.
Giles Xuereb is an associate with the Firm's Shipping and Aviation Department as well as the Corporate Department of the firm. He mainly focuses on these spheres of law as well as general commercial practice, and services a number of local and international clientele.
Giles is also involved in asset financing and securitisation transactions in relation to vessels and aircraft and other commercial matters and catering to the corporate needs of legal entities.
Giles is also part of the internal Blockchain Committee at the Firm which handles all legal matters related to cryptocurrency, Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and distributed ledger technology projects.
Katya Tua heads the Investment Services department of the firm. She was called to the Bar in 2002 and joined the law firm GVTH Advocates as an associate in the same year. She joined Simon Tortell and Associates as a founding partner in 2009.She advises primarily international clients in the incorporation and licensing of all types of collective investment schemes including UCITS, alternative investment funds (“AIFs) and professional investor funds (“PIFs”).
She also advises on the drafting and negotiation of associated documentation as well as on all ongoing legal support work that collective investment schemes require, particularly regulatory compliance Katya’s regulatory experience also includes the structuring and operations of asset management and administrators.
Michael Psaila graduated Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2004 after submitting a doctoral thesis entitled ‘The Raising and Maintenance of Capital’. He furthered his studies at Kings College London, where he obtained a Masters of Law degree in Corporate and Commercial Law.
Michael was called to the Bar in January, 2005 and was a partner at Simon Tortell & Associates since the firm was founded in May 2009 until it merged with Mamo TCV in July 2016.
Michael’s main areas of practice include banking and finance, capital markets, corporate and insolvency law.
He is a member of the Chamber of Advocates, the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners and the International Bar Association and is also recommended in most major legal directories.
Richard Camilleri is a founding partner of the firm and has been described as a ‘corporate all rounder’. As counsel to various domestic and foreign clients, he has significant experience in a large variety of transactions including privatisations, share acquisitions, public offerings of debt and equity securities, real-estate and construction projects.
Richard also advises clients on competition law, intellectual property law and employment law. He also has significant experience in litigation and has represented clients in cases concerning a variety of matters including competition law, unfair competition law, intellectual property law and employment law.
Richard is a also a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law of the University of Malta and has been lecturing since 1988.
