Since April 2015, Roberta Peresso occupies the position of Senior Associate within the Corporate and Banking Department at Mamo TCV Advocates. Prior to joining the Firm, Roberta gathered nine years’ experience in the local banking sector. Her previous roles exposed her mainly to the security aspects of lending and other matters of civil law, banking law in general, trade finance and company secretarial duties in a company listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. Roberta also has a good knowledge of data protection law which she acquired during her employment with the local data protection authority, which coincided with the introduction of the data protection laws in Malta.
Since 2003, Joseph Camilleri has worked in the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution department of the firm on assignments encompassing several aspects of civil and commercial litigation, including bank finance, real estate and asset recovery in the shipping and aviation industries.
Joseph also works in the administrative law sector, particularly in the fields of public procurement, private-public partnerships and planning law. In this regard he regularly assists Government entities in legal issues relating to the drafting of tender documents and in the evaluation of tenders, as well as in the implementation of contracts following awards. He also regularly represents clients – hailing both from the public and private sectors – in proceedings before the Public Procurement Review Board and in appeals before the Superior Courts.
In the field of planning law, Joseph has represented several clients in the private sector in planning appeals and has also worked closely with architects and architecture firms on projects requiring permits and authorisations.
Mikiel Calleja is a senior associate in the corporate and finance practice of the firm. Mikiel’s main practice areas are mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate finance and general corporate/commercial. As counsel to financial institutions and public and private companies, he has significant experience in corporate transactions and financing including local and cross border mergers, acquisitions and restructuring, related financing and security arrangements, private and public offerings of securities and often advises public companies on regulatory requirements. Mikiel is also regularly involved in various corporate and company law matters and has both assisted and managed in vendor and purchaser related legal due diligence.
Mikiel has recently also had a paper entitled “Piercing the Corporate Veil: Greening Companies’ Governance and Shareholder Activism” published in the peer reviewed IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Journal.
Luke Mizzi is an associate in the Investment Services department of the firm. He graduated from the University of Malta with a Doctor of Laws in 2016 following the successful submission of his doctoral thesis entitled ‘Professional Secrecy and Confidentiality in the Context of Financial Crime.’ Luke joined the firm as a trainee in 2014, becoming an Junior Associate in 2016.
Luke’s main areas of practice include the licensing of Collective Investments Schemes (UCITS, PIFs and AIFs) and Investment Services Providers, as well as compliance, governance, restructuring and winding-up of such entities.
