The firm represents large overseas companies mainly based in Germany and Turkey for whom vessels have been registered and are still being registered under the Malta Flag both as normal registrations and therefore hoisting the Malta Flag and bareboat charter registrations where the vessels are either bareboat chartered ‘in’ which gives them the right to fly the Malta Flag or bareboat chartered ‘out’ giving them the right to fly the Flag of a recognised jurisdiction. COMMERCIAL YACHT REGISTRATION The firm has been recently engaged in the registration of some of the most prestigious Yachts which have been built in recent years. These yachts are being registered under the Commercial Yacht Registry and are subject to several Income Tax and VAT benefits. VAT – LEASING STRUCTURES Private yacht owners who are seeking to pay VAT on the value of their yacht are today seeking advice on the possibilities of implementing a leasing structure for the purposes of mitigating the VAT impact on such payment.
